NEW EP by Dar.Ra Brings Drama To The Music World

Artist: Dar.Ra
Title: Now Is Now/EP
Label: Kusha Deep Music
Release Date: April 2011
Digital And CD Release Through Itunes + Kusha Deep

Three new dramatic pieces of musical persuasion written and produced by UK writer Dar.Ra, that once again holds the flag up for British music in the 21st century. Epic, Gothic and Thematic are words that Dar.Ra as a writer, has and always will use as key notes to create and achieve timeless pieces of musical tour de force.
There is no point in covering areas that other artists are covering well, so themes, places, scenes and landscapes are used constantly, and are intricately woven through the songs as a back draft story for visual experiences in a sonic medium.

Wolverine the second track on the EP, tracks the disenchantment with the reality that we will live and die in the concrete Metropolis, breathing fumes and looking up at grey skies, unless we hear the call of our connection with nature. The narration in the lyric is based on the ability of two people who can turn from humans to wolves. The male lead character calls to his partner to use her skills to escape the backdrop of a crumbling infrastructure which have become our inner cities. Her reluctance to hear the call comes from the fear of the unknown and the need to stick to familiar surroundings, only the surroundings are about to change forever and nothing will be familiar for much longer.

You Kill Me, the first track on the EP is based on the classic Betty Blue film theme of the vixen who plays with dependence on her lovers pleasure/ pain addiction. There is an amazing French speaking part of the song which details why she feels she can walk in and out of his life whenever she needs somewhere to leave her bags for a while. The ever turning relationship circle of greed and need keeps on going till one either gets bored or one cracks up under the pressure of wanting something you can never have. So the story goes on and will have to wait till the follow up to this song is done to find out what happens and if he can find the strength to finally say enough.

Safe In Your Arms is a track taken off the successful debut album Soul Hours which was an album and artist of the week on Heart FM in Spain, featured on the ABC TV network in the States in a movie starring Hilary Duff and was play listed on independent radio stations in the UK, Europe and Japan.

Safe In Your arms is one of the stand moments on the album, beautifully arranged strings which haunt you from the intro to the coda and a melodic structure that would have not of been out of place on the Beatles Rubber Soul album. The lyric is a call to be returned home to safe places and people who know and love you. You can be in paradise but it can feel like hell if you’re not feeling the connection of the environment and the people around you. The longing inside for a return home is a theme felt by solders and travellers from the dawn of time and as long as we roam this planet, it will be a theme that makes, a track like this timeless.
Its in artists who dig deep and create from the soul that we trust and we trust that you will fall in love with this EP.
Its released digitally through Itunes (search Dar.Ra and download) and also through

EveryBody Got To Start Again Sometimes!

Label:Kusha Deep Music
Artist:Dar.Ra
New Single:Start Again
After the success of the first single release from the Soul Hours Album called 'Fly Tonight' Kusha Deep Records are following it up with another sonic treat titled 'Start Again'Its a tale about fighting the inner demons that hold us back from the heights we all want to climb. It was written while Dar.Ra was out on Tour in Australia and New Zealand back in 03 and then re:recorded for the Soul Hours sessions.

The album was recorded in Brighton on the South Coast Of England in a very small room belonging to Dar.Ra where he recorded all the tracks for the album. The rule was it had to be live every-one who played on that album had to do it in a take which meant sometimes rehearsing the parts for hours till they got it right.
The string sections were done in that way by two amazing string players Bela + Anna who came in and did their parts literally in one take, they were that good.So far the album had yielded one single previous to this one which went out to UK radio earilier this year called Fly 2 Nite that has helped build a bit more of a profile for Dar.Ra.

Since that release Dar.Ra played to an audience of over 1 million people on BBC Radio East. Various other stations around the the UK, have also had Dar.Ra on, playing tracks with his acoustic guitar, and getting great response from audiences around the UK.There is a new video for the Start Again single, shot in Derby UK, within an old Church Hall in the middle of the city. Directed by a young director Fabrizio who has made a small feature film rather than a music promo, with the theme of fighting the internal voices that say no when you need to go.

There has also been an excursion into the world of theatre as Dar.Ra was asked to play a part of a young Irish boatman working on the Barges of Dublin delivering Guinness from the depots to the bars of the Fair City. The part was demanding as Dar.Ra also had to sing most of the songs from Wild Rover to Whisky In A Jar. The two nights it played at the Brighton Festival got standing ovations. There are more shows planned for the summer which Dar.Ra will perform in, including an Irish Festival in Crawley UK.With interest from Publishers for the new album and more radio support this summer, its not long till this music is heard being whistled by taxi drivers all over the globe. For more information and samples

Tonic For The Times

Artist:Dar.Ra
Album Release
Title:The Soul Hours
Label Kusha Deep Records

UK based Singer/Songwriter and Music Producer, started out signed to Chrysalis/EMI back in the nineties and achieved his first success with Taste of Paradise. The band had a couple of hits; one of which titled Reach Out, became an Ibizian dance classic as well as hitting the UK top 40. After hitting a number one spot with a tune called New Dawn in which he supplied the vocals, released under name of Bliss, Dar.ra got the offer to tour out in Australia. The tour lasted 2 years, as Dar.Ra got seduced by the lifestyle, however he didn’t lay on a beach but spent it working in a box like studio with no windows and only came out at night.
As a result, he produced a fair bit of work for labels such as BMG and Festival Records scoring another top 40 with a band called Ultra Love Machine. Before returning to the UK, he produced an experimental album titled ‘Breathe’ featuring a host of Australian artists including Daevid Allen from the legendary Soft Machine and Gong.
Dar.Ra came back to the UK in 2003, setting up the Kusha Deep label in order to create a strong base from which his projects could thrive. The first release was called Majestic Retrospective covering the dance decade 1992-2002 which shows his versatility as a writer and producer.
The Soul Hours album is his latest release, 12 solid tracks drawing on earlier influences from legendary British rock acts like the Small Faces, The Who and Soul Aces like Otis Reading and Marvin Gaye. Writing, producing and performing the vocal duties on the album is Dar.Ra’s tour de force and shows again what is possible on a micro budget and a desire to make something real.
The songs range from edgy rock tracks like Fearless which deals with the subject of going to War, questions patriotism in songs like Red White And Blue and tracks like The Pressure deals with the subject of being caught in the rat race. Other more radio friendly tracks like Fly 2 Night and Safe In Ur Arms have already become hits on some of the independent radio stations around the UK, being played on BBC Radio East to over a million people when Dar.Ra did a live session for Sue Marchant recently. The follow up single to Fly 2 Nite from the album, a track called ‘Start Again’ is a powerful rock/soul ballad which should help to break the album to a bigger audience when its released this summer.
Dar.Ra has just completed some very successful shows in a Theatre production called The M Boat where he played the part of a young Irish Boatman working the Barges of Dublin in the 50’s. This experience has inspired him to write a script around the Soul Hours album in order to take the album out on the road without having to do the usual band routine of just playing the songs. ‘I want to do something different, that will lift peoples spirits in a time when we need it the most’

In a time of throw away culture, this music is not disposable. The Soul Hours album is available through Kusha Deep Records and Itunes
